Bollywood Masala, a new Indian restaurant in Bali, sought a menu design that would reflect their commitment to authentic Indian cuisine and the vibrant atmosphere of Bollywood. The client envisioned a clean and minimal design with images of dishes, using a dark brown (close to black) and a deep red color scheme for the pages of the menu.
Key Learnings
This project showed how a strong cultural identity like Bollywood can be expressed without making the design feel loud or cluttered. Using deep brown and red tones helped set a dramatic, cinematic mood while still keeping the menu clean and easy to navigate. Placing food images thoughtfully reinforced authenticity and appetite appeal without overwhelming the layout. It also highlighted how careful balance between theme and readability is key in menu design.
